Looking for a new multi-room speaker? This Audio Pro A15 review can help. Audio Pro makes some of thebest wireless speakers- they sound fantastic and are well suited to contemporary homes.

I’ve tested out a few of their Wi-Fi connected devices in the past including theAudio Pro Addon C10 MKIIand theAudio Pro G10, both of which proved to be winners, but both needed to be plugged into a power source to work.

In contrast, the Audio Pro A15 is a portable wireless speaker that you’ll be able to carry between rooms or even out to the garden. Hook it up to your Audio Pro,GoogleorApplemultiroom system and play music throughout the whole house.

Unfortunately, there’s no smart assistant built-in so if that’s what you’re after then take a look at thebest smart speakersinstead.

Audio Pro A15 review: price and features

Directly from theAudio Prowebsite, you can buy the Audio Pro A15 for $400 in the US or £350 in the UK. Take a look at the widgets on this page to find out where else you can pick one up.

The Audio Pro A15 is a portable multiroom speaker that can be used anywhere, even outside. You can connect to it in a number of different ways including through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. While there aren’t tonnes of features to speak of, it does have handy preset buttons to save your favourite audio content to and you can use it as an alarm clock as well through the Audio Pro smartphone app.

Audio Pro A15 review: speaker controls on brushed metal

You can always rely on an Audio Pro speaker to look the part. Scandinavian in style their devices are perfect for a modern home. The Audio Pro A15 is proof of that, smart and stylish, it’s covered in a sleek mesh fabric with a brushed metal panel on the top. You can buy it in either dark grey or light grey which means it should fit in with most decors.

A ridged plastic base props it up and there’s a handle on the back to carry it around with, which is a good job because it’s quite a hefty device measuring 206 x 286 x 137 mm and weighing 3.4kg. It’s a portable speaker but it’s not one you’ll be taking out and about with you.

If you do use it outside, it has IPX2 water resistance so it’ll survive light splashes of rain, but I wouldn’t let it get too wet because it may not be able to cope with that.

To control both the speaker and your music, there are a number of buttons on the top including a large volume button in the middle. Besides that, there are buttons to turn it on, pause or play the music, skip backwards or forwards through tracks and there are six preset buttons giving you quick access to your favourite playlists, internet radio stations or other audio content.

It’s really easy to save content to the preset buttons, you just need to hold one down for about 3 seconds until you hear a sound.

Setting up the device with your multiroom system is very easy - you just need to open the Audio Pro Control app, the Google Home app or the Apple Home app and choose to add a new device and then follow the on-screen instructions. It took me about 3 minutes to get up and running.

Audio Pro A15 review: speaker on a wooden table

Made up of a 10W and 30W amplifier with a 1-inch textile dome tweeter and a 4.5-inch woofer, the speaker system is plenty powerful. It supports Apple lossless, MP3, WMA, AAC and FLAC codecs.

Like we have come to expect from Audio Pro devices, you get a powerful, clear and focused sound. The balance between frequencies is spot on, the low end is punchy while the highs are crisp and the mids are able to push through with enough force. There’s plenty of energy without drowning out any details.

You can hear the depth behind each instrument and this speaker will quite easily fill up the room. The only qualm I have is that because of the design, you get a different experience when you stand behind it, so it’ll be best placed up against a wall.

To adjust the sound to suit you and your taste, there are manual equaliser settings in the Audio Pro smartphone app. You’ll be able to dial-up or down the treble and the bass. It’s a shame there aren’t more detailed settings but some are better than none!

The battery will last up to 11 hours of music at 50% volume, or 8 hours on full, which is a good amount for this sort of device even though it hardly compares to some of thebest Bluetooth speakers.

Audio Pro A15 review: speaker on a white background

I don’t have much bad to say about the Audio Pro A15, the only downside is the fact that it’s a bit too big to carry around. But not many multiroom speakers are portable in the first place, so it’s great to see such an impressive device pack a battery as well.

While it may not be heavy on features, you do get high-quality sound everywhere you take it and it’s very quick to access your favourite playlists thanks to the preset buttons. You won’t need to faff around with your phone, just turn it on and start listening!

If you already use Audio Pro, Apple or Google’s multiroom systems at home, this will be a fantastic addition to your set-up.

Audio Pro A15 review: also consider

A similar speaker to the Audio Pro A15 is theSonos Move- it’s a bit more expensive but it’s smaller than this and features Apple AirPlay,Amazon Alexaand Google Assistant so it’s a little more versatile.

If you don’t need a portable multiroom speaker and you don’t have a budget, theNaim Mu-so 2is the very best wireless speaker you can buy. It is very pricey but the sound will literally shake the walls and it supports pretty much every streaming service you could think of.
